  This Mandolin #5, is owned by Ron Coculo, Kent's Hill, MAINE, U.S.A. It has a top of Oregon (Douglas Fir), and neck, back and sides of Queensland Maple. The back is particularly striking with its highly quilted grain. It is finished with Nitro Cellulose Lacquer. Tuners are top quality, precision, German made Schaller brand.

The Mandolin #6 (left) is an F5 with Oval Sound Hole. It features a top of Western Red Cedar, and Neck, Back and Sides of Queensland Maple. It is owned by Mike King of British Columbia, CANADA.

The King Brown Mandolin Arm Rest is available as an option. Made from solid Ebony,(also available in Maple) it attaches to the side of the instrument as shown in the photos below. (Click on small images to enlarge) It protects the instrument's finish from wear and tear and also improves tone and sustain by allowing the top to vibrate more freely. The King Brown Mandolin Arm Rest is now available in an "over-the-tailpiece" (OT) version. This model accommodates those who find that their arm normally rests on the tailpiece while playing. It is available in Ebony or Maple. Both are the same price: AUD$79.00, USD$55.00 including postage.

Ebony OT OT3 From Ron Coculo, MAINE. USA:- David my friend, I forgot to tell you in my last e-mail the Arm Rest is absolutely fantastic. It is very comfortable and actually makes my arm less tiring. I actually noticed a change in the voice of # 5. Since my arm is no longer touching the mandolin you can notice a definite difference in the volume. The best part David was when I was walling # 5 like I always do going through some old bluegrass numbers when my wife Donna walked in and said "Did you do something to make that thing louder". I laughed and said no dear, I only put on an arm rest that David sent me to make it easier to play.... Again my friend thanks. I love this arm rest. Ron

The KING BROWN MANDOLIN PICKUP quickly and easily electrifies your acoustic mandolin. The Ebony mounting bracket for the outlet socket attaches to the side of the instrument and it accepts a standard guitar lead via a short adaptor lead which is supplied. The pickup sensor fits in the space between the upper and lower sections of your adjustable bridge. Once fitted, the pickup can be left permanently in place or should the need arise it can be easily removed. The small tool required for tightening the bracket is included.
